Will people ever heal

This is not about healing. This is just the truth.
But I guess it's because of the rains that have damaged the airport. I travelled recently and it was a nightmare. The passengers kept cursing

Tugeges don’t want any shortcomings pointed out.
The state of JKIA at this very moment is depressing. The present regime don’t seem to see any needs for maintenance and vital repairs occasioned by weather ravages.

The operations at the Airport also seem a pale shadow of the JKIA we used to know and experience.
It seems like they replaced everyone who knew their job and now the new staff are learning on the job.
Anyway, Hasora anajua chenye anafanya.

Ofcourse Kenyans must complain about everything, sio ndege, sio mvua, sio mchele....hamchoki? Anyway, i just arrived from dubai na sikuona shida yeyote

That's why you couldn't see the mess. Emirates terminal is different. Ask someone who has used KQ, BA, KLM, Air France recently how the arrival terminal 1A is a mess.

But like I said, I think Elnino damaged that terminal
I would have thought its the better of the terminals with better shops and facilities...anyway i last used it in June so things may have changed

Yes 1A is the better of the terminals. I used it during El Nino from Europe and here was our experience

1. You alright from the plane using a jet bridge
2. You get off the bridge and go down the stairs
3. You board a bus which takes elsewhere
4. You alight the bus and go up the stairs.
5. You then go down stairs
6. Walk towards immigration
7. After immigration the escalators taking you to luggage aren't working.

I have been asking myself - It had not rained before El Nino?

This is true.

Ask any one of your Summer Bunnies of their experience when they travel back.

The first thing they notice is the darkness.

The poverty.

Then they slowly start to settle into the mediocrity.

Before long you are back to diaspora.

And now you start to miss it all. The simplicity.

But you know this is artificial. It's not real.

It's only possible because of the USD, AED, Euros and Pounds they have budgeted for the trip.

Because if they had to stay for long, they would then become a part of the "depressing &chaotic urban sprawl."

Having travelled to a lot of countries, I'd say our airport isn't as bad as is constantly portrayed. Yes, it can be better but wait till you go to other African countries.

Even Europe isn't spared of the madness. Twice I've had to pay in order to get a trolley at Milan's Malpensa Airport and at Paris's Charles De Gaulle.

What irks me the most about JKIA is the domestic flights terminal. Sometimes it resembles Masaku Country Bus Station.

Trolleys utalipa even in US airports. This is because they have to employ someone to bring the trolleys back. I've been to those two airports this year and they are way better.

Well, we also have staff mandated to bring them back into the terminals, but we never pay for the service directly.
Ata US, kitu funny ni how different airports operate depending if they're under the federal or local government, while Europe, especially the UK has private-run airports. Perhaps the latter it is a model we should consider...

Wages are higher in the west. Even supermarkets you pay to get those trolleys.
