How do I get rid of these local 'riffraffs? What chemicals are safe to use? Do I apply them before or after planting my grass?

Juzi tu there were a few that were removed from the "safe" list but I did not note their names. My advice go to a good agrochem stockist and they'll guide you. But I see @Aviator ameweka hako juu.

Plant grass, let it grow, if too much weeds hire wale watu wa picking weeds. Then piga dawa when nyasi imeshika vizuri, best done during the rainy season because the dawa can dry out your grass.

I beg to differ. If you spray a non-elective herbicide like what I recommended, it will dry your grass

Wacha kunyeshe, then when the weeds are a few cm tall, spray Glyweed. Once the weed dries, now plant your grass and water it faithful. Ukiona imeshika, apply CN and apply a very thin layer of red soil evenly. You will have an even green lawn.

By going through this thread is when I realized that the part of Kenya east of Nakuru town is undergoing a dry spell. Huku Pokot it's raining each evening and night.
