RAO uses election seasons for financial gain and political power.

Scumbag has actually done a great job of trying to explain. Indeed even when Kibaki got into an accident, Raila actually campaigned for him. But you wills remember in the previous election he was running against Kibaki and they eventually all lost to Moi. But once he was betrayed and Uhuru was handpicked by Moi, that is when he decided to say Kibaki tosha.

Both Uhuru and Kibaki ran in 2002 which split the Central. You can imagine the dilema. You either voted Kibaki and defacto put Raila in government through the backdoor or voted Uhuru a political greenhorn who was viewed as a Moi puppet. Moderates among the Central Kenya block could have choosen not to engage in the vote. Combine that with the timing of the election during the xmas holiday, there wasn't much incentive to go out and vote.

It is also important to note we are repeating history in 2022. Uhuru is Moi, Ruto is Raila, Gideon is Uhuru.
