Suspected chicken thief lynched by mob in Meru.

A suspected chicken thief was subjected to mob justice in Tigania West Constituency, Meru County. Residents said the suspect was found in possession a chicken belonging to one of the poulterers in Maili Tatu area. Irate residents beat the suspect to death before setting his body on fire. A resident, Mr John Muriungi, said the man had been stealing from them since he was in primary school.

Meru South District OCPD Beatrice Kiraguri told journalists that police found the suspect already dead when they arrived at the scene after receiving the information.
She said the remains were taken to Chuka General Hospital mortuary.
