Grief and shock has engulfed Tala Girls High School in Machakos County after a student allegedly committed suicide in one of the dormitories. It is reported that the body of the Form Three student was found hanging from the roof rafters of her dormitory on Wednesday, August 31 morning. A report filed at Tala Police Station by the schools principal Anabella Karimi and her deputy Jane Katumbi, the 16-year-old student had just being questioned after reports that she had stolen KSh2,500 and a packet of pencil from her fellow student. "After being asked by the deputy principal, she promised to bring back the items. The deceased looked for the dorm prefect at break time, who gave her the keys for the dormitory to bring the items to the deputy principal," the police report reads in part. However, the student is said to have taken long to come back thus making the deputy principal suspicious."In the company of three other students, the deputy principal proceeded to the dorm only to find a lifeless body of [the student] hanging at roof rafters of the second floor of one of the dormitories bathroom," adds the police report. Police officers - led by Tala Police Station OCS - visited the school and processed the scene as investigations commence. A suicide note, a nylon robe and a head scuff were recovered at the scene and taken as exhibit. The body has since been taken to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital mortuary
