It all depends on the terms and conditions of a particular Policy.
If the insured abided by all the terms of the Insurance agreement and there were no material breaches on his part, then the Insurer has to pay.
But should the Insured fail to keep all the terms of the Policy, the Insurer could refuse the claim on the grounds that the agreement is voided due to the breaches.
So in this particular scenario, if the owner was suppose to have armed Guards safeguarding the premises as one of the terms and he did not, he might end up getting nothing from the Insurers.

It’s more like if a Motorist get involved in a traffic accident whilst drunk. The Insurer would be precluded from paying for his injuries as the terms of the Policy spell out that the Driver must not be intoxicated whilst in charge of the vehicle.
