If it were not for their distinctive Kamba drumbeats and dancing, the Kamba origins of this Paraguayan tribe would have remained a mere speculation. It is surprising how persistent music can be. When language, culture, and everything else is lost, music survives. Afro-Cubans still dance, chant, and sing in African languages they no longer understand.
