Early this year, we posted our hustle. We sell adult Pampers now and then as side hustle. We use online marketing until we were hit hard. A woman in the picture below saw the post and called my wife. She wanted 50 cartons worth 300 thousands delivered to her in Kasarani area. We believed her. Big mistake.
After several calls to and from, she convinced my wife to deliver the 50 cartons of the items to her in Kasarani promising to pay for transport and the package. My wife called my daughter and together, they hired a canter at 5k to transport the items to Kasarani.
Arriving in Kasarani, they met this lady. She had a vehicle on standby to transfer the cargo. My girls were not worried. Naive. The lady convinced them to first transfer the cargo to her vehicle nearby and then get paid 300k plus transport as agreed earlier which they did. It happened in an alley around Kasarani.
After which, the woman told them to accompany her to a nearby bank for her to withdraw the money to pay them. But along the way, the lady stopped at a shop and requested that they take a soda as she entered the said bank to withdraw the amount. She left behind her purse for them to keep for her. They didn't know it was empty.
That was the last time they saw her. After waiting and sensing trouble, they followed the way she had taken but it led them to the backstreet and to nowhere. Rushing to check the vehicle she had transferred the cargo to with her team, it was nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, their hired canter was still waiting for them to be paid.
My girls had just lost 300k just like that. They called me for help because canter driver wanted to be paid.
Seeing this woman on television today and after reading about a chicken seller whom she conned 68k in Kiserian makes me so angry. She is now fatter than she was when she conned my girls early this year according to my wife. She has never been arrested despite the fact that she operates from same location, same place.
Am tempted to believe this woman and her network is being protected by the police. We lost 300k in a blink and many Kenyans have lost their money yet the police have the identity of this very woman who changes targets at her convenience yet she have not been arrested why? Who will save us?
