High Court has today ordered MPs to pay Kenyans back the Sh1.2 billion that they unlawfully awarded themselves as house allowance two years ago.
The court has also directed the Clerk of the Senate and the National Assembly to recover in full amount from the salaries and allowances of each Legislator.
Human Rights Activist Okiya Omtatah had moved to court to challenge the move by MPs.
Two years ago, MPs awarded themselves Sh250,000 house allowance. SRC had also filled a petition against the move.
