A manhunt is currently underway for a gang of armed assailants alleged to have robbed Ksh. 1.9 million from a city trader on Friday.
The goons are said to have accosted the M-Pesa agent’s vehicle on Upper Hill Road adjacent to the UAP Old Mutual building in the mid-morning incident witnessed. They then proceeded to break into his vehicle before fleeing with the said cash.
The trader was not injured during the incident which was captured on CCTV surveillance.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, the M-Pesa agent who requested anonymity said he was heading to bank the money after collecting it from several M-Pesa outlets that he operates.
While on Upper Hill Road, a vehicle pulled over in front of his car and blocked him before the thugs emerged and broke the windows of the car and stole the money.
DCI officers have since dusted the vehicle for fingerprints to assist in investigations.
