A picture of the late Robert Moses Magotsi
A family in Ebusiralo, Vihiga County, is currently experiencing a level of confusion and pain usually reserved for badly written soap operas, following the mysterious death of their relative in faraway Maputo, Mozambique. According to the family, Robert Moses Magotsi - a Mechanical Engineer who clearly had his life well-engineered - was working in Cape Town until his sudden and unexpected exit from the world on October 11, 2025.
The shocking news was delivered courtesy of two messengers: Robert’s South African business partner and a lady identified as Wanjiku, who was reportedly living with him in Maputo. Their story was that Robert went for a morning run, collapsed mid-fitness mission, and was rushed to hospital - where doctors sadly confirmed that the run had ended permanently.
As the family began the normal process of grief, paperwork, and planning to bring the body home to Nairobi for burial in Kitale, the plot took a sharp and unexpected turn. Wanjiku reportedly informed them - quite casually - that the body had already been cremated and the ashes generously donated to the Pacific Ocean. No consultation. No warning. Just instant closure, Maputo style.
The family further claims that before the ashes had even cooled, Wanjiku allegedly went got busy selling some of Robert’s properties and, for extra drama, forging a KSh 50 million life insurance policy and naming herself as the lucky beneficiary. Despite the family reporting the matter to the CID in Maputo, justice appears to be jogging at the same pace as Robert’s final run - because no arrests have been made so far. Now, the family is appealing to the Government of Kenya to step in, talk to Mozambique, and help untangle a mystery involving a sudden death, a surprise cremation, missing assets, and an ocean that apparently knows too much.
At the time of his death, Robert Magotsi was no small fish: he was the Planning Manager at the City of Cape Town and owned 51% shares in a solar plant in Limpopo- proof that even people invested in clean energy can end up in very murky situations. Robert held both Kenyan and South African citizenship, meaning this puzzling saga qualifies as an international affair - with plot twists that even Netflix would reject for being “too much.”
