Itumbi has been throwing the carrot for a while now and Matiangi has finally bit the bait. If matiangi does not follow through on his defamation suit he risks looking guilty. If he does follow through, he opens himself up to be prosecuted on those land theft charges. I suspect Matiangi will be the first casualty of a Ruto presidency.

I don't like this. Someone after a political benefit could kill the fool Itumbi knowing it will be blamed on those who had an axe to grind with him.

Fair point @Mwalimu-G. However let’s flip the coin the other side as well. Don’t you think that as a country we stand to gain if this case ever goes to Court? Our fight against corruption by the High and Mighty just got another boost.

I want to think that Matiang’i knows that Justification is an Absolute (complete) Defence to either libel or slander. That means that if Itumbi can prove to Court that Matiang’i stole the land mentioned, he will be held to have told the truth and will have no case to answer and no damages to pay. The law will even commend him for the public service of exposing corruption.

However, if Itumbi can not discharge the legal and the evidential burden of proofing his allegations, then he will face the full force of the law of paying very substantial damages to Matiang’i. This will teach him and others to respect other peoples reputations and honour.

Sincerely, I don’t see anything wrong with these turn of events. Let’s give the system a chance to synchronise itself.

The egg must have it's day in court!!! We cannot have a crook walking around like a jogoo threatening people left right and centre while he has stolen land.
