Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has declared Monday, July 11 a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Adha.

In a gazette notice on Friday, July 8, Matiang'i exercised his powers granted by the Public Holidays Act (Cap 110) to declare the national celebration. "It is notified that for general information that in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3 as read with section 2 of the Public Holidays Act (Cap 110), the cabinet secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government declares Monday 11th July 2022 a public holiday marking Idd-ul-Adha," read the gazette notice
 
Hii upuzi ya ku announce holiday 2 days before is nonsense . They need to be on a specific date ndio watu wajipange .The relevant parties need to settle on a date so that when the citizens plan their work they do that accordingly.
A big number are inconvenienced by this type of holidays .

Not really most international organizations had this knowledge just the way they plan for currency holidays, even a simple search on google usually indicates the tentative dates for Muslim holidays. For Muslims, it is dependent on moon sightings as @Aviator has said, so gava can't just fix the exact dates but the likely dates are usually on google.

How this is left to the whims of a mere cabinet secretary is dumbfounding!
Need to have all holidays known by the start of the year!
Economy has already taken a hit with campaigns and will take a even bigger hit next month with the elections but let’s have a holiday just for the sake of appeasing some voters!
