Malawi MPs have rejected donation of over 200,000 condoms from a foundation in the country.
The condoms were to be placed at the parliament buildings. They rejected the donation saying the legislators can afford condoms and by accepting it, they will ruin their reputation.
They say being given condoms for free means they love lungula and so many Malawian citizens look up to them.
The health foundation had received a report that the parliament dispenses about 10,000 condoms monthly.
The need for the donation would help in prevention against HIV, other STIs and STDs. Condoms also work as contraceptives.
