It's not about living in town. Joho had even offered to pay these guys to move out. They were to get paid to move out of county houses! And the rents they pay for these houses,nghai,less that 4K for a two bedroom house on the Island!
Joho had also offered and promised to give all the current resident first priority when allocating the new houses.
That's Buxton.
In Tudor,the deal was simple. Move out of some houses,they build new apartment blocks and get guys to move in. Nigas couldn't hear none of it. They pay 900 to 1200 for a two roomed house with external toilets....

They been having it easy and the fear is how some will be able to pay for the new houses.
I know some families who have lived in those houses since 1969...four generations in the same dilapidated county house.

You've just captured what I wanted to say. Kwanza hapa Nairobi ni the same case, wale waliangukia nyumba za kanjo, unapata mpaka ka backyard pa kupanda sukuma. Mtu akifikiri kuacha hio life aende Nyalgunga, inakuwa machos. Kababa wanajengewa extension ya mabati nao pia wanazaana hapo ndani, the house becomes family property. That's why you find so many 35+ year olds still living with their parents.

How many former occupants of the Ngara and Parklands old houses got the new ones....what the govt is saying and what it's doing are two different stories....Govt also wants to take up space for social amenities things that must be planned for...fika ground papa...wachana na social media

But in the same light, zile za Kibich si wakaazi walizikata and sold em off? Ni kama change is resisted even when it involves the disruption for an upgrade

Weren't affordable as promised. Remember the first government was sought of concerned for the common mwananchi and came up with very good ownership terms. I also don't know why the govt can't consider a tenant purchase scheme even if it'll take 20-25 years. Hii shida yote is because of brokers in government and a govt that disregards simple city council regulations.

Social media hapana. As a long time resident of Tudor,I was in the thick of things in 2015-2016 when Joho came up with the master plan. Note that a business that I was running then was to be affected by the change too.
My info is not informed by social media nanii. It is informed by the situation on the ground since I was an interested party.

The point you are missing is that what they say and their so called master plans is very different from what transpires...currently the team from MNS has been shifting goalposts everyone they visit Eastlands...

I have not and that's why nigas went to court. They wanted the courts to order that Joho gives them.the houses before anyone else.
