It could be argued that the fall of USSR gave China an opening to rise. With the USSR out of the way, the West dropped its guard and furloughed its sabotage forces. That way, China was able to build itself discretely, with the help of Western greed. Today the West is staring at a monster that threatens them economically and soon militarily, not to mention the new China-Russia collaboration.
