As expected but even auctions at places like Leakey aren't fair so much behind the scene thuggery on those auctions...by the way the prices were 'Reserve Prices' meaning they can't go lower than say 15k for the Land Rover so bidding starts at 15k whoever has the highest bid takes it...could even end at a Mill.Update: i went and saw the said 15k land rover defender, let's just say nothing to write home about, it's just the chassis, two axles and a butchered engine block, those guys have been butchering and selling parts. For parts it's still worth the money but as a project car it's a lot of work and money to get it running.
Most probably will end up there, kuna siku nimeenda kubid microwave, nikabid 3k....imagine kuna mtu moja alinunua microwave kama kumi for 12k? Like wtf!As expected but even auctions at places like Leakey aren't fair so much behind the scene thuggery on those auctions...by the way the prices were 'Reserve Prices' meaning they can't go lower than say 15k for the Land Rover so bidding starts at 15k whoever has the highest bid takes it...could even end at a Mill.
no surprise here!Update: So i went to the auction today just to see how things go, i didn't have my hopes high on winning a bid which was a good move after what i saw i am convinced that the whole thing is a sham, it was a circus show.
Lesson learnt, corruption is difficult to slay i don't see myself attending another one.
- It was supposed to start at 10:00am, ended up starting at 12:30 due to high turnout many people had to wait in line to get their bidding numbers, only one person was issuing bidding numbers, question is why this must be done on the day of bidding.
- No order during bidding, everybody crowded around the auctioneer and it became a shouting match, the auctioneer couldn't even see past the standing crowd,
- Corrupt practices by the auctioneer, not all vehicles on the list were up for auction, the auctioneer deliberately skipped some vehicles, i say deliberately because people were shouting this fact out to remind him that he had skipped and he would hear none of this.It seems some agreements had been made behind the scenes and the vehicles were no longer up for auction.
- Shady terms on return of refundable deposit, it seems that the refundable deposit of 10,000 KShs won't be refunded immediately and refunds will only happen after two weeks, why wasn't this disclosed earlier in print, it seems they want to frustrate people into letting go of their deposits and losing their receipts.
They still do - zingine zishanunuliwa na reserve price , when you get there hutazipataThey should attach photos. Anyway it's good that they are open these days. Zamani few guys could buy the cars back door.
