There's a scene from the greatest TV show ever made, The Wire where a man called Frank Sobotka laments at the decline of America in the light of them building less stuff. You know, the stuff that truly powers an economy and makes the population productive.

Reading this post reminds me of that scene that I'll also post in the comments for your own reference.

I like all of the actors above, but Lance and Michael’s stories were the most heartbreaking because they played my favorite characters in the series, aside from Bubbles. Lance’s death was especially shocking, he looked so healthy and was the last person you’d expect to be taken by heart disease. Michael, on the other hand, seemed so in control of himself. It’s devastating what drugs can do.
