It was about an individual's genealogy, not about the wealth they possess. If you can convince people that you “hustled” for your success, then it’s acceptable but if they believe you inherited all of it, it becomes a problem. That’s why Ruto, a Moi protégé and billionaire, is seen as a hustler, while Uhuru, also a Moi protégé and billionaire but the son of Kenyatta, is viewed as part of the dynasty or nobility. If it was about wealth, Uhuru’s father would have been the hustler, and Ruto’s children would now represent the dynasty class. In a kind of “democratic feudal society,” a peasant can rise to become a king or at least join the nobility. Which means hustlers are just temporarily inconvenienced dynasty. Honestly, I’m not even sure what I’m saying anymore.
