Team kujituma ,anaona an opportunity and runs away with it .
Truth is everyone in this forum knows people in the Middle East doing these kinds of jobs. But they'll pretend that this is the worst thing they've seen. They should first tell us how the govt should create decent jobs overnight instead of yapping online.

Pale ushago a big number have gotten jobs pale Middle East a big number have improved the life of their families back home. Two young men got some odd jobs with the US Army pale Iraq as part of Combined Joint Task Force around 2013 and now they got some opportunities in the US and they have elevated their families .

Working abroad is a good idea. Philippines is growing tremendously because of their workers abroad.

Does the government create opportunities: No
Does the government kill the little available opportunities:Yes

I wish we had data showing how many permanent jobs have been created since 2002. According to KRA, the amount of revenue collected as PAYE (which also implies people with permanent jobs) grew by 9.7% in 2023/24. Perhaps you can tell us which stats you are referring to that show how the govt killed these opportunities.

Yeah, it's is quite life saving for many people, but should the whole govt of kenya prioritize become an agent for these jobs, instead of prioritize fixing the economy for creation of local quality employment opportunities. If even the govt is becoming an agent, who will fix the local situation?

And we know for many young ladies who go to the middle east to become housemaids do so out of duress. They know they will have a hard time out there being mistreated by employers but it's better than staying hungry at home.

The number of local businesses that have closed down in the past one year alone due to a tough environment is so high. Heavy taxation is backfiring that's why the govt resorted to desperate taxation measures with the latest bill. People lose their jobs and because there's no income or revenue to tax they want to tax even the little bread they can still afford

I will justify a major contributor to that rise, though i stand to be corrected.

I attribute that growth in PAYE to a cosmetic basic pay rise because of adjustments that were being done to accommodate nonsense hasora deductions. In this, it was done to cushion gvt employees from pecuniary embarrassment.
Id think ⅓ rule could have been breached if the deductions were imposed without adjusting basic pay upwards thus a change in tax brackets... In the end rise in PAYE.

I don't have stats. The government doesn't promote talents if what I'm seeing in School competitions is anything to go by.
In Fact it kills morale of sports people. Its not a must that it employs everyone.

First, businesses fail all the time. This is what Forbes wrote in Oct 25, 2018,08:00am EDT.
"What percentage of small businesses fail?

According to the Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Advocacy’s 2018 Frequently Asked Questions, roughly 80% of small businesses survive the first year. That number might be surprisingly high to you, especially considering the commonly-held belief that most businesses fail within the first year."..."Only about half of small businesses survive passed the five-year mark, ranging from 45.4% to 51% depending on the year the business was started. Beyond that, only about one in three small businesses get to the 10-year mark and live to tell the tale."
So closure of businesses is not a new phenomenon nor a Kenyan phenomenon.
One thing for sure that has changed is the interest rates. But this is something beyond what the president can do. Ruto himself said the government will not borrow at an interest rate above 10%. But right now, the govt is borrowing at 18%. This is a topic we can discuss for a whole week. Rising interest rates is a global phenomenon. As for increased taxes, perhaps it's you who should tell us how much tax has been added to businesses for the past 1-2yrs.

I can't believe I am the one defending Ruto. Punguzeni hasira, start being objective. Most of the bad things he's being accused of is coz Uhuru chose to be a moron, or they are beyond his control.

Hi Nyakundi. Kindly post this for me so that we can bring our brother home for burial in Kenya. He died in Saudi Arabia after a fake agent from Al Msrieey Global Limited, named Mary (phone number 0723470438) based in Nairobi, took him to Dubai on a travel visit visa. She had told us he was going on a working visa and would secure a data entry job, which we paid Ksh 250,000 for. My brother had just graduated from university. Upon his arrival in Dubai, Anthony was directed to Sharjah, where he expected to begin his new data entry role as per his job offer letter. However, he was shocked to find himself assigned to a different job, one that was illegal under Dubai’s laws. His working visa turned out to be a mere one-month visit visa, leaving him in a precarious situation once it expired. Despite the agent’s assurances that his employer in Dubai would provide a new working visa, this promise never materialized. Anthony found himself working undercover, trying to make ends meet in a foreign land. His predicament worsened when the illegal job he was involved in was raided by local authorities. Along with others, Anthony was arrested and faced deportation. But on June 29, 2024, while being transported to a police station in Abu Dhabi, Anthony collapsed due to the sweltering heat inside the vehicle. We have reached out to various authorities in both Kenya and Dubai, hoping to uncover the truth about what happened to our beloved son and brother. We are appealing to anyone with information regarding Anthony’s whereabouts after his death to come forward.
