It's getting out of hand. True, reporting might be more now but something is totally off. There's also the Machakos Uni student who is yet to be ferried to their home in Kisii and that Coastal mama killed by the bf kwa nyumba yake.
Ama it's copycat crimes as @Clemens used to allude?

Is it time to declare a National Emergency on the run-away Femicide staring our Nation on the face?
Yes, I think so Buana. Why do I think so?

A National Emergency is often declared when there is threat of danger to a Nation or part of it from external or domestic foes.
It unilaterally grants the National Government, as opposed to local enforcement, the powers to gather and coordinate all their resources and best personnel to address the threat.
A state of emergency will also allow the National Government to invest and budget long time in ensuring that this crisis is resolved and contained well into the future.

The male of the species here may not perceive this as an emergency and might see this as a call to preferential treatment when there are so many males dying at the hands of cruel and killer women.
What they shouldn’t forget is that these Girls dying needlessly are our sisters, daughters and mothers.
We need to cultivate and practise humanity to each and everyone of us.
Our Education System need to urgently introduce Ethics and Morality as part of our syllabus and curriculum to ensure that we safeguard these virtues.

I believe this was once part of the sylabbus though I only ever got to see dusty and unused textbooks when I was in high school.
A friend who rears all manner of livestock was recently lamenting about dead piglets after being fed fake feeds composing of among other things, milled sawdust. Like why would someone be that unscrupulous? 🤷🏾‍♂️
We have become a people that have accepted more and more inhumane treatment of others for short term gratification. It's sad to see a nation be at war with itself.

We have leaders in the country that are never held accountable. Didmus Barasa shot and killed someone during the elections of 2022. The man is free as a bird.

Add onto that list Babu Owino that shoots someone in a club and never spends a day in jail for it. Okoth Obado kills that pregnant young lady. Aisha Jumwa accused of murder and the case is thrown out as soon as a new administration takes the reigns. Linturi sitting pretty in the cabinet with alleged rape accusations. This is KENYA.

Socialites like Hudah, Matako Sidika, Akothee, Diana B are what "inspire" young girls in this social media environment. Add onto that list Karen Nyamu, Omanga etc that are/were in high positions of leadership. As draconian as Moi was during his reign, some of the nonsense we are witnessing now he never would have tolerated.

Has anyone heard anything, even a word from any of the 47 elected Women's Reps? There is a radio silence. Crickets.
 
I have a permanent solution.

Let's ban the hookup culture.

Let's us enforce that for a man to spend time with a woman in private, who is not their close relative, the man's family needs to approach the woman's family, ask for permission and deposit a non-refundable surety. And they are expected to be in a long term relationship. Ama niaje?

It's not femicide it is murder and manslaughter, these ugly incidences horrific as they are do not merit a national emergency declaration.
Preferential treatment is an unwise course of action and masking it in so many words won't cut it.

This is the genesis of all our issues which is compounded by the fact that the same citizens are the ones who elect those crooks. If chapter 6 was upheld and respected from 2013, we would be in a much better place.
