How can gatheca miss such an important function? Sources have revealed the reason. Hapo mbeleni I would have dismissed these as pure conjectures. But those running mates selections debacles have left me completely flabbergasted! Much so after having had to hear Ruto and his troupe walking all round the place gloating to the high heavens how peaceful their camp is and that they didn't have the headache of deciding who their dp candidate will be unlike their confused competitors. When they arrived at the ultimate set time, what happened? Fireworks were reported from their conclave. So bruising was the fight that it left one Kithure Kindiki, who was a front running combatant, suffering very serious wounds mpaka ameapa he's not gonna do this shit no more!

The vested interests in this chess game are superlatively immense. And it is being rumoured that Uhuru could be the single biggest financier of Azimio campaigns. Perhaps he might have a change of heart after seeing how warmly Karua's selection has been received. She might as well be the reviving kick that Raila and his campaign required.

Wrong. Uhuru has realized too much visibility in Raila's camp is a liability they cannot ignore. The economy is not doing well and Kenyans do not want to be reminded such by Uhuru's face in Raila's camp. The choice of Karua is meant to cool tempers and prevent Ruto from running away with the entire mountain region, which would have left Ruto in too comfortable a position. Karua's relatively clean record in corruption matters and her principled displays in the past is a huge boost for Raila's camp.

If you look at it keenly, both camps forced each other to select running mates from the mountain. Both were either going to select candidates from outside the mountain region or inside the mountain region. If only one side selected a candidate from central, it would have had undue advantage over the other side. That said, we might go the Tanzanian way and end up with a woman president who owes no one anything.
