Police in Igembe Central, Meru County, are currently investigating an incident in which a boda boda operator allegedly defiled a 17-year-old girl before gouging her eyes out and abandoning her at Meea forest, along Laare-Ndumuru road.
The minor, from Athiru Rujine area, was rescued after a Good Samaritan encountered her in the said forest and reported the matter to Laare Police Station.
Confirming the incident, the station’s Chief Inspector Ezra Zambu said that the girl accepted a free ride from the boda boda operator on Thursday at around 5pm, from Mau to Laare.
The boda boda operator however did not stop when they reached the girl’s destination, instead proceeding to venture into the forest.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at Meru Referral Hospital while police continue with investigations in a bid to bring the culprit to book.
