Trade between China-Africa in Jan-Sep, increased by 38.2% YoY to $185.2 billion

Chinese exports to Africa increased by 35.3% to $107.6 billion

Chinese imports from Africa increased by 42.6% to $77.6 billion

(Yicai Global) Nov. 17 -- The value of bi-lateral trade between China and the African continent jumped 38.2 percent in the first three quarters from the same period last year, reaching a historic high for the period, as all economic and trade indicators between the two continents improve, China’s vice minister of commerce said today.

Some USD185.2 billion worth of goods were traded between China and Africa in the nine months ended Sept. 30, said Qian Keming. Of this, China’s exports to Africa grew 35.3 percent to USD107.6 billion while its imports expanded 42.6 percent to USD77.6 billion. Since 2000, China has exported USD1.27 trillion worth of products to Africa and imported USD1.2 trillion.

“China has always aimed for balanced trade with Africa and has never deliberately sought a trade surplus,” Qian said. African countries have different resource strengths, economic structures and foreign trade policies. With some countries there are trade surpluses and with others there are deficits, he added.

China’s direct investment in African industries from January to September climbed 9.9 percent year on year to USD2.6 billion, more than in the same period in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, Qian said. The growth rate was 3 percentage points higher than China’s overall investment abroad.

Last year, China’s direct investment in Africa was CNY4.2 billion (USD657.3 million), 56 times that of 2003. It is now Africa’s fourth largest investor with total investment of more than CNY43.4 billion (USD6.8 billion) as of the end of 2020.

Get serious bwana @Sambamba

How do you define a trade surplus?? Don't listen to what Mr Qian says, look at the numbers.

China exported $107.6 billion to Africa and imported $77.6 billion from Africa. That right there is a trade surplus for China valued at $30 billion.

Forget about history (since 2000), look at the recent years and moreso the most recent year with that $30 billion trade surplus in China's favor. They can go as far back as they have to in order to blind you from the fact that China is currently running a trade surplus with Africa.

By the way, China is also running a trade surplus with the USA valued at $285.5 billion.

The dragon is sucking wealth from Africa, EU and USA.

Africa = $30 billion
EU = $180 billion
USA = $285 billion

Crunch the numbers further by considering the size of each of the 3 economies. You will realize that Africa is actually in the worst position of all 3 regions.

Here is your answer. When Kenyans finally sober up and decide they want good leadership, these are the kinds of countries to call friends and trade partners, sio wale wanakudanganya ni friends na wanaibia watu wenu mashamba in the name of conservation.
Man, I could have kissed you kama ungekuwa karibu. Unaskia mmbemberu akikwambia eti you have a special relationship because he was your colonialist. Pthuuu! All they want is to perpetuate neocolonialism so that they can kill you with impunity, grab your land like NRT and LTWP have, loot your resources like James Finlay and Unilever, etc...
