This coming election will be a very interesting one. Despite the obvious chest thumping on either side of the isle, it is fair to say that it is very difficult to predict a clear cut winner.
You have an entire generation of 60+ year olds kikuyus who have suddenly realized Raila is not the demon they have indoctrinated their kids to believe he is.
You would think this is a positive epiphany.

This is just ethnic elitism. They know that Raila is very unlikely to complete a 10 year term and thus are gambling that once he is incapacitated or kicks the bucket it will be easier for a Kikuyu to take over.
The other is that the moi/kalenjin demons are still fresh in their minds. That is why there is a distinct generational divide in this election.
This generation of 60+ year olds find it difficult to stomach giving up power longterm.
However, I theorize that once the candidates announce their running mates, there will be a serious disruption in this 60+ kikuyu demographic.
That said, it is interesting seeing how Ruto is being received in the mountain by the peasant youth. The hustler narrative has sunk into their hearts.
