I particularly like Ndii's idea of corruption amnesty. Kama umeiba pesa urudishe whatever you have not eaten without any criminal charges then we start on a fresh slate. The reason why watu wameshikwa makende doing government's bidding willy-nilly is because they have corruption files leveraged against them. Corruption is used as a tool by the executive.

What is to prevent future corruption kings to quote the principle of precedent?

Please don't allow your thinking to be crowded out by your political persuasion.

Did the govt/executive tell anyone to go be corrupt so the get a blackmail handle?

You are accusing of the exact same thing you are doing.

It is the same principle when you are trying to get illicit weapons out of the hands of civilians. Give back the guns without criminal charges. Then anyone caught afterwards is charged fully assuming the institutions are strengthened enough to undertake the task.

There is wanton theft in government because they know if they are on the right side of government, they won't be prosecuted. Just look at Gachagua. Look at the DCI being used to attack tangatanga sympathizers while Covid billionaires like Murathe are enjoying their proximity to the presidency.

If that doesn't appeal to you, what do you think will work?

That’s the most defeatist idea I have ever heard. It is tantamount to legitimising sleaze and graft.

The Government has Accounts and Documents of all Public Transactions. All they really need is to get Auditors to go through them with a fine tooth comb with a view to bringing thieves to account.

What is more, unlike many crimes and misdemeanours, theft is not subject to the Statutes of Limitations. It may take a hundred years to bring wrongdoers to account but the records and legal instruments are there for prosecution.

Furthermore the Government has another powerful tool up its sleeves: If it suspects someone of theft, they can ask them to account for their wealth which is incongruent to their possible earning power.

Like @Mwalimu-G has wisely warned, let’s not set a stupid precedent.

Kabura and waiguru are out here walking among us despite confessing to stealing public money...murathe, a nobody is still out here threatening everybody despite stealing covid money, babu is still out here despite unprovokingly attempting murder caught on live TV....Keter is still out here walking normally despite being caught red handed at CBK trying to defraud the country. In short you can be caught live live with your hand inside the cookie jar but once you sing the gavament song...then you are allowed to walk scott free.

Another example, waititu was also caught red handed stealing and even got impeached...but he is still out here doing business

Many Nazis escaped Germany and went to hide in some nondescript and backwaters countries.
Their warrants are still alive and kicking despite the passage of time.

All those criminals you have mentioned still have a case to answer however long it takes.

I agree because this should be the norm. But why, 50 years later have we failed?

Why is it that the likes of Murathe have the guile to call others thieves while they stole covid billions during a killer pandemic? How is it that Uhuru can act on 'intelligence' from DCI to arrest High Court judges less than a month after they killed BBI in court, but doesn't act on intelligence several months since covid money was stolen?
Why is Babu Owino sitting in the parliamentary committee investigating the covid billionaire saga after he shot someone in the neck live on video!???

I know that. The question was, even despite his unquestionable guilt, why is he being allowed to participate in such an important parliamentary commission?
Who is supposed to enforce Chapter six? Who presented his name for the committee? Was Mr Kenyatta supposed to vet him?
Folly is trying to heap all our collective and systemic failures at the feet of one man for political reasons. We'll never solve any problems that way.

It is his gavament, is it not? Didnt he personally take the post of majority leader away from people who disagree with him? Did he not approve the swearing in of some judges and not others? Did he not take away the nairobi CG and took it over under his direct supervision under statehouse?...if he can do all that...murathe is where you think he should draw the line? Or babu?
