china bans for profit tutoring

wrongturn

Elder Lister

while Kenya is busy commercializing education, china is busy making it cheaper and affordable to the public, .I saw a debate on Twitter the other dat how publishers are making a kill by making it hard to hand down books like before, they're used for writing as well..
china has even banned online learning for under six years

China is banning much of the profit-driven tutoring that has grown around its public education system, according to multiple reports, in an attempt to reduce inequality and lessen a key source of stress for both children and their parents—part of a strategy to get them to have more kids and reverse a falling birth rate.

China is banning for-profit tutoring of core school subjects including math, science and history, as well as tutoring on weekends and holidays, and all online tutoring of children younger than 6, Bloomberg reported.

Because the vast majority of students are tutored outside of school—at least 75% in 2016, the most recent year of data from the Chinese Society of Education—the country is adding to its public online tutoring and making it free as a substitute for tutoring companies, which will presumably be forced to scale back or shut down

but kenya is a cartel country where citizens or policymakers are just there .

if we value our future, we should stop increasing the class divide, education should be an equalizer but currently it's a divider.

This subject makes me cringe and literally shed tears inside.
I told of how they gave me a booklist that will cost me 16999 if I buy all the books in that list. Not forgetting in the last term of the past school year,I bought books in preparation of this school year. In total,I will have spent just about 25K on books. Na si diploma ama HND or degree anafanya. Class 8.
But I stopped complaining when a colleague spent 8K on books for a grade one student. Grade one. Mtoto hata hajui anaitwa nani....
Hii ni nchi ya wezi.
Halafu nikipata chance nikose kulipisha...it's hard not to try and recoup my 'stolen' money.

I saw the debate and I pity parents, I myself books are part of school fees but it's not cheap also,
we can't industrialise if we're commercializing the only thing that is supposed to give everyone an equal platform. Good affordable education is one pilar that should not miss in hustlers manifesto.

Astonishing how cartels run so many sectors in the country. Sio education, sio tenders ata health kuna watu wanauza donated blood. Sad

but kiuliso who are the cartel's? ,what happened to KIE,JKF and KLB, most publishers nowadays are private, very few schools in cbc are using those publishers, au it's a collaboration of publishers and private schools, coz i noticed a trend in fb, some schools will require bks from exclusively one publisher, others wengine , they've got different content

another kiuliso, how are students in public schools copping with BK requirements considering most requested bks are write on bks , ndo isiwe pang'ang'a ya middle class tu.

All books/publishers have same content presented differently. Most public schools are not hard on parents but definetly its widening the gap between haves and havenots.
