They are pushing soo hard for Raila to vie for presidency.

They keep saying that Raila is the only formidable opponent and they would like to compete with him and not any other candidate.

It's like Arsenal saying they would like to play with Manchester City and not Sheffield because they are a worthy opponent.

But the truth is that the reason they want Raila to vie is because it will ensure the turnout of Mt. Kenya is high.

A ballot paper without Raila will not excite a number of Mt. Kenya voters to come out and vote

Tanga Tanga know that a poor turnout in Mt. Kenya spells doom for them.

Yote tisa kumi DPURWNBP.

You mention arsenal and this quickly came to mind

1992 Mt Kenya had two formidable presidential candidates. 2002 Mt Kenya also had two formidable candidates. But what should be noted is that Mt. Kenya turnout percentage was low in those elections compared to 2007, 2013 and 2017. Why was the turnout so high in the last 3 elections? Railaphobia

I cannot comment on 1992 since I was not even born then so let me shift my focus to 2002

First, I don't quite agree with railaphobia. That implies people in central fear raila. It is not fear rather than hatred.

There is rutophobia though. I have heard it particularly from the older generation who claim that he will be anothef moi.

In 2002 was when Raila said Kibaki tosha and that could have bred apathy in Central because that could have been viewed as betrayal.

I believe the same will be the case if Raila were to support Ruto in 2022. He would most likely lose a big chunk of the Central vote and that is why a particular media house and paper has been championing this alliance.

Infact, whether Raila vies or not, it won't make a difference. The person who has taken over that mantle of hate is Central's own son, Uhuru Kenyatta. So long as Uhuru continues to disenfranchise Central Kenya and indeed the entire country, all his best laid plans will come to not just like it did in 2002 when he tried to split the Kikuyu vote.

That sentence in bold is difficult to comprehend.

I guess Kibaki Tosha should have endeared Raila to the Mt. Kenya voters. Which it did until some 'suspects' decided to use the elections as a way of escaping justice. And whipped the anti Raila phobia in central to the maximum.
I also would like the OP to explain his statement because it's contadictory

2022 is a different ball game, "mt Kenya" and whole of Kenya will never follow any previous voting pattern.
