Kenyans are resilient people , kila mtu apambane na hali yake hata ikifika 150 traffic jams will still be there. Guys will rant for 6hrs online about the increase, then go back to the stories of who is sucking boobs or karen nyamu will unleash another video or feminazis will start another online war with amerix students or we go back to our never ending online political tribal wars.

what will happen is hongo ndio itapanda bei.
police, civil servants, and any person who is in a position of asking for a bribe to offer services will have to increase the fee.
the availability of hongo ndio inafanya watu watete tu online time wako free. alafu wanarudi kutafuta hongo ya siku na maisha inaendelea.

remove those avenues of corruption and see Kenyans troop to the streets. so if you don't have an avenue of eating hongo, utaumia peke yako

I beg to differ.

The reason no one is likely to head to the streets on account of corruption or high taxation is, IMO, majority simply do not pay (direct) taxes.

A big number of our people are in informal employment. It’s no secret that most if not all informal businesses do not pay direct taxes on their income. They pay the usual unavoidable indirect taxes like VAT as does everybody else, but while those formally employed and formal businesses pay direct taxes (income and corporate taxes) on their income, most informal businesses do not.

As a result, they do not really feel that ‘personal’ sense of loss when taxes are misappropriated or when taxes go up.

The day everyone will pay their just portion of taxes is the day there’ll be a revolution. Until that day comes, hii ingine ni kelele tu.

This is partly why I feel today corporates are better positioned to pressure the gov’t on such issues than are private citizens.
 
after reading the mood of the nation, they've decided not to increase the prices, it won't have made sense yet they've extended curfew and closure of restaurants , bars, and churches. But leo najua raia ilikuwa isha jaza tank, sije wai elewa hio logic yet ukijaza unplanned huwa inaisha tu kwa jam or unplanned errands., kuna total ya kiambu rd , iliisha by 1pm, they had to bring in more stock @ 2 p.m . sahio raia iko kwa queue.
