Just been thinking about this and researching kwa supermarkets.

There is a big oppprtunity in the icecream niche, how come nobody has figured out how to mass produce passion icecream here in Ke? Anyway, just thinking out loud, jave y'all ever seen any?
 
You are looking at the wrong places, these kids to be specific girls take ice creams in malls and fancy fancy kiosks, sijui restaurants or sth. Supermarket is a last resort, however if a college is near by, just do a neat decent job. You'll make decent money, top it with assorted cakes, juices and yoghurts.

Didn't that pizza place opposite UoN fail, I think if you can put an ice cream parlor at a place like Qwetu, stands a pretty good chance

Location is key, for such a venture perhaps KU or JKUAT or even Thika would do great. Almost no competition if well packaged . CBD is saturated with similar steamier joints, slightly different packaging but a direct competition, expect anything.
Plus how did they package themselves? Was there aggressive marketing/pricing? Putting up shop is one thing, making clients loyal to it is another. Sometimes even with best plans things fail. Its the risk that can make you money or break your wallet.

you have quite insightful points, was thinking more about the mass market, the likes of creambell and was just wondering why the flavors are limited to vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and mango, would have thought with the popularity of fanta passion that the same flavored ice-cream would sell big time...

There's a little animal called Market Research and these companies spend a lot on it as it informs on which products to invest in and where it will sell. So your passion flavor appeals to you and a very small percentage of the population. That's why you'll probably find it in speciality outlets like Blue Room or Non Solo Gelato....best ice cream by the way
