Thought for Sunday

so is Norway a case of equity of opportunity or equity of returns?

and are those who work hard in America success due to their hard work or cheap labour from external countries and "protection" that comes from America?
I'm not sure about the specifics of Norway, I might have to look that up

also not sure if all the stories about the country are true, but if so, then it's possible for Humans to live life in almost similar surroundings/opportunities or at least ensuring that everyone has the basic minimums.
not sure if this affects the rich or the hard-working and favors the poor and the lazy

Norway maintains the Nordic welfare model with universal health care and a comprehensive social security system, and its values are rooted in egalitarian ideals.[18] The Norwegian state has large ownership positions in key industrial sectors, having extensive reserves of petroleum, natural gas, minerals, lumber, seafood, and fresh water. The petroleum industry accounts for around a quarter of the country's gross domestic product (GDP).[19] On a per-capita basis, Norway is the world's largest producer of oil and natural gas outside of the Middle East.[20][21]

The country has the fourth-highest per-capita income in the world on the World Bank and IMF lists.[22] On the CIA's GDP (PPP) per capita list (2015 estimate) which includes autonomous territories and regions, Norway ranks as number eleven.[23] It has the world's largest sovereign wealth fund, with a value of US$1 trillion.[24] Norway has had the highest Human Development Index ranking in the world since 2009, a position also held previously between 2001 and 2006;[25] it also has the highest inequality-adjusted ranking per 2018.[26] Norway ranked first on the World Happiness Report for 2017[27] and currently ranks first on the OECD Better Life Index, the Index of Public Integrity, and the Democracy Index.[28] Norway also has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.[29]

those who have been to Norway can shed some light.
(i once heard a conversation someone saying that during holidays, almost everyone is off to the hotels-time share for some fun and relaxation)

Low crime rates= small rich/poor gap which is achieved through social democracy

Is social democracy a political system or an economics system. How does it achieve relative equity?
It's both.... the economic system depends on the political one. If a far right government is in power, naked capitalism and fascism ensues. Their policies ultimately create the rich/poor gap, enriching the very rich and impoverishing the majority poor. Social democratic governance creates safety nets while not interfering with the market forces leading to relative equity
