Tired of post-Xmas lazing, I decided to take a road I last took in kitu 1982. Ongata Rongai.
Those days, Magadi Road was a desolate dirt track snaking through acacia wilderness and simply ending in Magadi. It took me by surprise how much linear development has taken place in the intervening years. In typical style, ndarugũ stones have been stacked up all over to house Nairobi's many commuters, and business seems to be booming.
Between Rongai and Kiserian, the same sprawling growth continues. I turned back at a bustling club Simpa Greens, where they were queuing to pay and get into a hall to listen to Samidoh. Others packed the tiny swimming pool or treated their kids to amusement in the compound.
Finally, I sat at the balcony on which a photo was once taken and posted by the master-philanderer called @Kabuda, Club Legend. After two Tusker Malts and a plate of fry and ugali, I headed back home. I'll be back.
