New zealand just passed this story.

Lakini isn't this legalizing suicide? Like where does one draw the line between assisted dying and suicide and dont doctors take the oath to preserve life? Now they will also be killing people?

Manze uzungu ni ufala pia time zingine

Suicide is when someone takes their own life while assisted dying lies in the hands of a person's loved ones deciding pull the plug.

I could be wrong though.

Either way, it's one of those things such as the choice between Krest and Stoney that have no definite answer.

Pulling a plug on someone who is on life support is different. This one is about you going to hospital and asking the doctors to kill you

It's not as simple as walking in and saying i want to die today and they just kill you like a dentiat extracting a tooth.

There are tests both physical and psychological to be done. Physical to determine that your condition is irreversible, terminal and the quality of life for the remaining time will be extremely poor. Psychological to ensure that you fully understand what you are asking for, that you are ok with it, the implications to the people in your life, that you wont have second thouts etc.

All this is done over a long period of time.

Ps: doctors dont actually take/make that oath and even if they did, it has no legal binding.

Am thinking of all the arguments that can be brought forth, someone who has HIV and is suicidal may just argue that it is terminal and wishes to be killed, also someone who has an accident that damages them so bad they become suicidal can argue their case out...its a can of worms

First of all, its fully established that HIV is not terminal. Even if you have full blown AIDS you aren't necessarily in a bad way until the very last days when your immune system is completely shot and now you are wasting away. This is when you would opt for assisted end of life care.

The whole purpose of the counseling and psychological testing is to rule out suicide.
If you are suicidal why would you go through a program that will takes months or possibly years before approval is granted?

If you tell someone to kill you, isnt that suicide? Anyway this is just as bad as allowing abortion just for the sake of it which has also been legalised in the white man's land. Life is sacred and they are slowly killing it, very soon itakuwa kama hutaki kuzeeka sana you can now choose your day of dying

I have seen videos of it on YouTube for patients with cancer. Imagine a situation like the comedian who died from a brain tumor.

If I was him and there were no treatment options or if I didn't want to use up family funds, I would choose assisted dying. That way I would not cosume resources on a hopeless cause.

Who gets abortion for the sake of it? What reasoning is this?
