When the time came to sleep, about 8pm, THE WIVES chose who they wanted to sleep with in THEIR huts (each wife had her hut).

My only problem with African culture was that it was like a straight jacket. Everything was prescribed and there was no room for creativity or innovation. In Gikuyu culture, maka design ya nyumba was rigid.

No, no, no. Nakataa. The Kikuyu had a rigid floor plan for the hut, which had to be round. The divisions inside were cast in stone and nobody could deviate from the prescribed design. This must have stymied creativity and innovation.

By the way this mentality still permeates African society today. Uki jaribu kufanya vitu differently people often say uko na utoto or something similarly derogatory. So we don't invent much because we have to conform.

Meanwhile the mzungu is innovating things like sports and weird flying machines like planes....
