On mpesa payments which mostly captures biachara ndogo, total figures for january to july show a growth of around 4%. The worst hit month was April with a 15% contraction. But July saw a major comeback with 23% growth over july the previous year

On bank payments the story is bleak, the 1st seven months saw a 5% dip in total value of EFTs and a 13.5% dip on the cheques front. May was the worst hit month with a 31.5% lower total payments compared to a similar month in the previous year. Sadly, bank payments are yet to see as dramatic a comeback as we saw in mobile payments.

Without a regular paycheck I have hardly made any transactions since June when I cleaned up my last account. Siku hizi ni mpesa na PayPal
