As President Uhuru Kenyatta has been whipping errant members of both Houses of the National Assembly,one person who is not related to governance has risen the ranks from the Secretary General of COTU to a politician.
The politics of the coming 2022 General Election has every politician looking for the right formation so as to be in the winning team.It is no clear that the President and the NASA chief Raila Odinga together with the BBI bandwagon are on one side whilst the chief "Hustler" William Ruto and his TangaTanga crew are on the other side.These two factions are considered the two bulls who will enter the ring come 2022.This means that all the politians have to align themselves to the faction they deem strong enough to clinch the presidency come 2022.Currently,the Kieleweke team assumingly under president Kenyatta is stronger than the TangaTanga team assumingly led by the son of Sugoi.
Were it not for the current world wide Corona virus pandemic the political temperatures of Kenya would be hitting the ceiling given the fact even though we are amidst the crisis it is still hot.Politicians have to pick a side and one Francis Atwoli has already picked his side and it is not Ruto's side.
Atwoli started intervening in political affairs of the Mulembe nation by summoning a meeting of Mulembe leaders at his Kajiado home.The theme of the meeting?To unite the Mulembe nation so as to speak in one voice which is seemingly dance to the tune of the Jubilee Party faction under the president.
Known Ruto supporters like Boni Khalwale did not dare attend the Kajiado meeting alongside Ford Kenya ousted chairman Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi.The word in the streets is that the three bigwigs have to be sidelined as they do not buy into Atwoli's idea of the Western Region supporting Kenyatta's government.Whilst Boni Khalwale has already declared his support for William Ruto come 2022,Musalia Mudavadi of ANC has already made it clear that he will not be taking the seemingly cowardly way of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka of getting into bed with the Jubilee Party,which leaves us questioning his future alliance.Even though Musalia is a good leader he is a poor politician who would not dare be a presidential candidate come 2022 hence his logical political move would be to support William Ruto.Next is Moses Wetangula who is not interested in aligning with the ruling Jubilee Party.
So after the Kajiado meeting,Atwoli amongst others including Eseli Wamunyinyi replaces the Musalias and the Wetangulas as the leadership of the Mulembe nation making it clear that Atwoli,who summoned the meeting in the first place,aimed at over throwing the seemingly non-compliant leaders Musalia and Wetangula.True to this,a few days later Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula being ousted as the Chairman of the party,a move which was stamped on by the office of the Registrar of Political Parties ensuring that Wetangula's goose is served and eaten,a move Atwoli claimed he had no hand in.
It is now clear that Atwoli has already picked his side and consequently the side of the Mulembe nation come 2022.Elsewhere in Kirinyaga county where 23 MCA's led by Mutira MCA David Kinyua Wangui voted to impeach the seating governor Anne Mumbi Kamotho popularly known as Ann Waiguru,Atwoli once again proves his allegiance to the Jubilee Party by supporting the embattled governor against the wishes of the residents of Kirinyaga County.
"Waiguru supports president Uhuru Kenyatta and the agenda of making Kenya good for all.She should be left to continue serving the people of Kirinyaga and Building Bridges Initiative(BBI)," said Atwoli.
The question is why should a leader who had been voted to be impeached due to amongst others misconduct and gross violation of the Constitution by failing to deliver the annual State of the County address to the Assembly be allowed to serve?It is crystal clear that the people of Kirinyaga County want her out.The matter is now in the Senate as acknowledged by Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.This time however ,it is unlikely that she will survive the tirade coming her way.
The question is why is Francis Atwoli dipping his fingers into other people's political jars?What does he stand to gain by being the "John the Baptist" of the Kieleweke faction,to prepare way for them in the western region and now by supporting embattled politicians aligned to the Jubilee Party.Is he overstepping or has he neglected his role as the Secretary General of COTU?
