Drama was witnessed after Judge John Onyiego forcefully handed two children to their mother despite the fact that they did not want to be with her. He ruled in favor of the lady and jailed the father for 30-day civil jail. The man talked to the media and said that he has tried to hand over his lovely kids to their mother but all has been in vain.



He also said that he went with them to the court so that he can officially hand them over but the young ones refused. The children were spotted in a video that went viral while beating their mother. She was also seeing trying to force the children to go with her because of reasons which are best known to them.



Many people condemned the act of Judge John Onyiego and said that whatever he did was an embarrassment to the Judiciary. According to them, the children should be left to go with the parent that they are comfortable with. They should be given the freedom to choose their destiny.

One of the Human Rights Activists by the name of Francis Auma also commented on the matter and said that such a judgment should not just be made blindly. According to him, the probation officers should always be involved while dealing with the family matters.

Experienced a similar incident in Kiambu Law Courts. Despite the girls stating clearly she did not want to go with the mother,the judge ruled so. It was a sad sight seeing the girl clinging to her father and screaming when the court orderlies came for her.

And that's why the judges are asked to be cognizant of circumstances surrounding such cases reports from social workers not withstanding. Give such issues a human face.

This judge must be held accountable, unless he has mental illness. The law must protect the children, their interest comes first !
 
Perhaps there was evidence of parental alienation.
Parental alienation occurs when a child refuses to have a relationship with a parent due to manipulation, such as the conveying of exaggerated or false information, by the other parent. The situation most often arises during a divorce or custody battle but it can happen in intact families as well.
