SUBJECT: SHOOTING INCIDENT REPORT:

OB NO.11/07/10/2021 at 1615 hrs.

Today at around 1700 hrs two police officers from Misikhu police post thus:' 1.PC SIMON SAID and PC BRIAN SUNGUTI together with Chief Namarambi Location Mr. John Musamali, Assistant Chief Marinda Sub location Elizabeth Situma, assistant Chief Makuselwa Sub location Dauglas Wanyonyi and assistant Chief Wabukhonyi Sub location Mr. Hezron Wanyonyi were on R.R.I operation on eradication of illicit brews within Wabogonyi area about 19 Kms from the station.They visited the home of one suspect namely Bernard Namisi Masinde L/m/a aged 32yrs and found him with 200 Litres of Kangara and 10 Litres of Chang'aa.On being arrested by being handcuffed by the officers, he became violent and resisted arrest though officers managed to handcuff him.He raised an alarm and members of the public responded while armed with Pangas in order to rescue the suspect. In the process Simon Said who was armed with Jericho Pistol was attacked by amember of the public who was armed with an axe and cut him on the forehead and sustained a cut wound.Pc Simon Said fired two rounds in the air in order to scare them but the said attacker continued advancing towards him.The officer shot him on the left side of the head and the bullet exited behind his head.He was rushed to Lugulu Mission Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.Scene was visited by police officers from Webuye police station led by the Scpc Webuye East and established that the shot person is known as Simiyu Soita L/m/a aged 45yrs and the body is laying at Lugulu Mission Hospital pending postmortem.The suspect Namisi Masinde was arrested when he sort treatment at Bhakhita Hospital within Misikhu Market and he will be arraigned in court tomorrow.Pc Simon Said was taken to Webuye in a stable condition.
PC Brian did not discharge a single bullet from his Jericho pistol.
