This could be a worthwhile lead. Now, for the arrested duo to be nailed down, the investigators will need to achieve one or several of the following:
1. Detect the suspects' DNA or fingerprints on the girl, her items, or the crime scene
2. Detect the girl's DNA, fingerprints, or hair in the suspects' premises or their items
3. Establish that the phones or simcards were used in any communications related to the crime
4. Recover the hacksaw used to cut the girl up and link it to the suspects through purchase
5. Establish that the suspects' mobile devices were in the general area where the crime happened (weak)
If the criminals were meticulous in covering their tracks, only the arrest of the brown chap will solve the case. The possession of tools that could be used to butcher a human is not enough to obtain a conviction.
