This past week social media has been awashed with pleas of fees, most visible one was from the girl from western Kenya who was rescued by lamu governor.
Today even pages of alai and wthuku are still pleading for funds.
Some mps e.g wahome ,ali, ndindi etc, have been posting photos of them issuing bursaries some as low as 3k for an entire year But you can't blame them, the student population is quite high.
But Marsabit county took it a notch higher, they passed an education bill in the county ,down from ward level to ensure their brightest are not left behind. A marginalized county mobilized the private sector to contribute to a scholarship kitty to fund it's education yet our mps are using cdf bursaries as a campaign tool
We have very rich folks from western Kenya, if they could simply put their egos aside, no bright poor kid will be struggling with fees. Even central Kenya, no need of Alice wahome issuing bursaries of 3k yet Murang'a county has some of the richest folks in Kenya, most western countries have scholarships funded even by individuals or group of individuals.
As we gear up for 2022, apart from levies, what actually has your county done that you really believe devolution is working, what kind of legislation have they passed that the impact is felt at the grassroot level? How many public barazas have been conducted ? at county level? or how many bills have your county passed since 2017?less levies bills?
