The Meteorological Department staff has laid down their tools over the withdrawal of allowances from their October pay slips without notice from the ministry.

According to a letter, the workers want the Ministry of Environment to honour its pledge of reimbursing allowance funds which they say amount to 70 per cent of the total basic salary.

The workers, who have since vowed to cripple all operations at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), and other places countrywide have issued an ultimatum until all their allowances have been paid.
