Dear Residents.
Congratulations on being part of the 1st Residential Estate PET Plastic recycling program in East Africa. PET in full is polyethylene terephthalate. It is a type of plastic resin which is labelled with a triangle and 1 at the bottom.
For the PET Plastic Recycling to work and by extension other waste materials in future, we request you to partner with us in two areas.
Resident's responsibility
Separate the PET Plastic in your house and do not put it in the Black bags. You can find a box/bucket/ different bin to put them in and get a day to take them to the mesh bin.
In case you have a DM and kids, you can talk to them about not trashing the PET. Tell them to take the PET Plastic to the Mesh bins.
NERA Environment Committee Responsibility
• EC representatives will visit your courts and tell you more on the importance of recycling PET.
• Liaise with point of contact on recycling in your court to ensure collection is done on time
• Liaise with partners Coca Cola and T3 who will be responsible for collection. Please note collection will be done on a regular basis depending on how quickly or slowly the bins get filled up.
• Provide feedback and ongoing engagement with you to be comfortable with the exercise.
Coca Cola and T3
• Provide free Mesh bins and ganny bags.
• Collect PET Plastic on regular intervals.
For more information and input, you can reach out to your Court Leaders or Environment Committee.
Thank you,
Environment Committee
