Folks wrongly think and assume that Gachagua’s troubles with the law are over. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The newspapers are not helping matters by not pointing out that the worst is yet to come.
The wheels of Justice and their attendant tumult and vexations just started to turn.
I know this being Kenya, Gachagua will use his monies, connections and influence to subvert, sabotage and delay the determination of this suit.
With that retinue of ten prominent lawyers, you can be sure that this case is going nowhere soon and will drag on on our courts for at least a decade.
Nevertheless and notwithstanding the damage to Gachagua is already done.
For starters he will, from this moment forwards, find it extremely hard to carry out his businesses. Banks won’t be very forthcoming with loans and credit for obvious reasons -they don’t know when he will be carted away.
Secondly, his businesses which heavily relied on Government’s patronage will be blacklisted from their contracts.
Thirdly, Gachagua brand has been irreparably tarnished not only business-wise but politically as well. His reputation is at an all time low and is unlikely to ever rise.
Last but not least, and I am aware people might downplay this, Gachagua will not be travelling for business, education, healthcare or pleasure to America, Canada, Western Europe or Australia. His children might get similar sanctions as well.
Of course the world is huge and he could go to Russia or China but it is not the same.
In conclusion let’s just say that being mentioned adversely with corruption, leave alone being convicted, can never be a good thing.
