So we throw out continuous professional development out of the window? Teaching like any other career is changing due to new innovations and changes in the environment as a whole.

Someone please tell me what is wrong with requiring teachers to be continously well trained! Why would you want your kid to be taught by someone who last learned 40 years ago? Why do we want to hold the bar so low for teachers? Other professionals like accountants require it. Alafu ujaribu hiyo ujinga in IT uone! So our kids learning is less important than how we deal with money and machines?

Hii siasa ya pesa name itamalisa sisi!

issue is not continuous education but rather the costs involved.
Halafu the way universities were picked to offer those certification raised eyebrows.
Mku and riara were very quick to announce the programs and payments , perhaps they were in the know or even lobbied for such programs.
Universities want a guaranteed source of income and by lobbying for tsc to make it mandatory, they struck a jackpot.
Perhaps tsc should have been smart and make it optional or one of the things considered for promotion.
Kiulizo, do doctors undergo continuous certification or even the police?.

So, you are saying the tax payer should be paying for the education of teachers? Do other professionals employed by the government enjoy similar benefits? Shouldnt this issue be addressed under CBA? Why rush to court?
You have missed a lot
you recall Sossion being frustrated to resignation, this was a calculated move !
Education in Kenya whether basic ,secondary or higher is in turmoil Musiseme hamkuwabiwa

So, the issue us not continuous professional development (CPD) for teachers and how to fund it. Siyo? It's not about improving quality in our schools? What is the issue?

If the issue is about Sossion, then we might as well find temperature K at which all hell freezes.

?.
Yes they do, all the civil servants are required to undergo continuous learning so that they can be considered for promotion. But we have teachers who are responsible for shaping the future of our children, with part of their knowledge that has become post-dated and inapplicable in today's world and market place.

Hata armed forces are required to do it. Pilots are required to do it to remain flying. Heck, even judges and magistrates do CPD.

but kiuliso, but why not make it affordable to teachers or rather why not use digital space or enlist colleges with country wide reach?
hapo ndo shida iko, nobody is against continuous improvement or reeducation.
'coz am sure ya civil servants it's not a mandatory item for you to be maintained in the pay roll
