Wewe ni mwalimu wa aina gani senator. He made this point very early on when Ruto got into power. This is the second year ending August 2025. The third year ends August 2026.

This quote is just a reference to that statement.

If you'd have followed Ndii for long or listened to his interviews, you'd understand what's happening now. In one of the 2019/20 clips, he had said the regime that would succeed Jubilee would have a hard time, politically and economically. At least he doesn't lie like his boss. Not that I endorse this regime, but I find it hard to understand what any other person would do if he left a country with Ksh. 11B debt and no space to borrow. Maybe tungekuwa tushadefault izo maloans na Rao, coz even Azimio manifesto was suggesting crazy spending.

He said what is quoted here today.

I guess you meant 11Trn and not B.
However, I do not think all the debts became due when Ruto dropped the bible.
It is instructive that this regime that has used the excuse of paying debt for not doing anything visible and has actually pulled out money from social programs has resisted calls for an independent audit of the debt portfolio.
I am inclined to believe sentiments that some monies purported to be going to debt repayments are being diverted to private offshore accounts.

Yes, I meant T, and thanks for the correction.

It did not. But look at the debt profile

This is a 2021/22 document. You can see the most critical year was 2023. Our total revenue was about 2.2T. The recurrent expenditure ni more than 1.2T. Hujaeka za counties, more than 386B annually. This document was prepared when $/kes was around 110, so you know those numbers are even higher. How have we maneuvered to 2024, without loan defaulting? We definitely had to borrow more, sometimes with a higher interest rate than the loan we were to repay. Cheaper loans to retire old loans can only be offered by IMF at the moment, na ndio wanataka tax on bread and motor vehicle, na ndio inafanya watu waruke vichwa. In short, we have some difficult days ahead.

"The president, his MPs (clearly those are his not ours) and his bloggers have been painting a picture of a government in dire need of money. But that same government is living luxuriously!

How do you explain the never ending renovations at State House? They started by replacing tarmac with cabro, then decided it didn’t look posh enough and replaced with yet another design of cabro.

Massive renovations are being undertaken in the house, maybe to make the state rooms as grand as those of palaces and buildings that Ruto visits abroad. Further, they have been buying many state of the art vehicles and government officials have become brand ambassadors for luxury designer wear and accessories.

Foreign trips have also increased multiple folds, gobbling several billions. Isitoshe, less than 6 months after coming to power, CSs and PSs started buying houses and cars worth millions.

This money was from kickbacks and duty free importation of foodstuffs where tenders were awarded to their cronies. We have also seen them in harambees where they are donating millions of shillings, refreshing memories of the Moi era.

A government in dire need of money would be conducting itself very differently. The austerity measures Ruto promised after becaming president would be in full effect, but that turned out to be one of his many false promises.

Unless the administration stops the wastage and shows prudent use of our money, we shall continue protesting any additional taxes. They cannot milk us dry and expect us to keep quiet when there is so little to show for our money besides their luxurious spending! #RejectFinanceBill2024".

Wanjigi and Okiya always telling us that a lot of the borrowed money never reached Kenya, yet there's a lot of resistance in auditing the debt. Makes you wonder..
