An administration police officer attached to Bomet police station stabbed his wife to death after a heated argument in a rental apartment in Bomet town on Sunday night.
According to Bomet central sub-county police boss Musa Omar, the 25-year-old victim, was stabbed three times in the chest with a Masai sword and was found sprawled on the doorway, an indication that she may have attempted to flee the attack.
The officer, 35, according to reports,stabbed himself in the stomach with the same sword and was discovered unconscious lying on the floor of their house.
Neighbours who were alerted to the commotion rushed to the scene and rescued a nine-month-old baby who was left in the house crying after the two engaged in a quarrel.
Mr.Omar said the officer was rushed to Tenwek hospital in critical condition while the body of his wife was removed to the Longisa county referral hospita mortuary.
"The two were living as a family. They have a 9-month-old baby,neighbours describe the couples as friendly and they have been living peacefully" added the officer.
