A former beauty queen is at the centre of the investigations into the deaths of her two children who mysteriously drowned in River Sagana, Mathira West, Nyeri County.
The woman identified as Eva Wangui, the mother of the two brothers aged three and two years old is reported to have been the last seen with the boys before their disappearance.

The bodies of the toddlers were found floating on the river on November 8, with Acting CCIO John Gacheru confirming the incident.
"The bodies were found by a fisherman who notified police. The boys were last seen on November 1 at Marua," he stated.

After preliminary investigations, police boss Richard Masila stated that the mother was admitted to the psychiatry ward at Nyeri Referral Hospital pending evaluation.
"It appears they were thrown in the river and right now the only suspect is the mother. But we understand she's mentally unstable, so we will have her evaluated so that we can ascertain if she is fit to be questioned," he noted.

Wangui's family claimed that she had left for the shopping centre on November 1 with her sons but when she did not return by 6 pm, they reported to the police.
Residents who spoke to her at Githiru, 7KM away from her parent's home, added that she asked for the shortest route back to the village.
She walked back home despite warnings that it was dangerous to use it at night.

It was the following day that she was found seated alone near a house in Marua with her clothes wet and appearing confused.
"She was shivering because she only had a T-shirt and a pair of trousers. She did not have shoes," the homeowner claimed.

The bodies of the children were to be found days later, with police trying to figure out what could have happened between the last time Wangui was spotted by villagers to the time she was found the following morning.
The authorities are still trying to establish whether the toddlers drowned accidentally or were murdered.

is there some evil forces in the river?
are the crossing points not well built/fenced/protected?
is it a dangerous route to follow at night?
or is this just a case of a woman who is not okay?

She can't stand trial if she's found to be of unsound mind, and the most likely scenario she will be committed to mathare mental hospital which i doubt has behavioral therapists to handle such situation for the purpose of reintegration back into the society.

the world is still behind on matters of Mental Health.
the world has/is a difficult world to live in.
some may have all the worldly items but still, feel empty and alone.
some cannot cope with daily struggles of life be it heartbreak, joblessness,.....

but for her to be found in the state she was in, chances are she wasn't okay before, or she wasn't ready for what happened after.
